Just to be sure everyone knew the subject of the celebrations taking place at our Parkhead Resource Centre in Ashington, staff and service users spelled it out with bright red balloons on the side of their building.
The eye-catching ’20’ display had been made to mark the Centre’s 20th anniversary and, as family, friends and carers joined regular staff and service users, the event became one of the biggest celebrations in its history.
Visitors enjoyed all the fun of the fair with hook-a-duck and the coconut shy, climbed aboard the visiting fire engine, tried their hand at the tombola and enjoyed a trip down memory lane with a display of photos taken at the Centre over the years. Stealing the show, however, was Nelly the donkey who was too cute to resist stroking!
“We had a great day!” said Parkhead manager, Claire Graham. “The weather was lovely and everyone had so much fun. I’d like to thank everyone who supported the Centre by donating prizes or who helped out on the day. It wouldn’t have been the same without you.”
Parkhead Resource Centre opened in 1996 and provides stimulating activities and learning opportunities for adults with learning disabilities.
