It was all aboard the bus again this week for another trip to the seaside. Holy Cross residents Brian, Belle and the ”Chuckle Brothers”, Mick and Bob, were joined by Brian’s wife Marie this time for the short trip to South Shields.
Activities co-ordinator, Claire Quinn, said, “Marie comes into the home every day to see Brian and is a great help to me when we do activities. She knows most of the residents and they look forward to seeing her for a chat each day.”
“Belle absolutely loves being out and about and was delighted that we got such good weather for our outing, while Mick and Bob were over the moon to go to Minchella’s on the seafront for ice creams. They said it brought back great memories of days out in Shields when they were younger. Bob reckons that Minchella’s sells the best ice-cream in the North East, and he could be right! The queues in the café were evidence of that.”
If you are interested in joining our team of volunteers and lending a hand at Holy Cross in Sunderland, or its sister home, St Catherine’s in Newcastle, we’d be delighted to hear from you.
