70 years of caring marked with a special event

Our St Catherine’s Nursing Home residents enjoyed taking part in a very special celebration at their home on Saturday.

Friends, family, staff and volunteers joined our residents for the ‘Strawberry Tea’ event which began with a thanksgiving Mass for St Cuthbert’s Care’s 70th anniversary, celebrated by Fr Ligouri in the home’s chapel.

Visitors then had the opportunity to view displays of some of our residents’ handiwork, including produce from the gardening group, poetry, reminiscence stories, paintings and crafts.

A beautiful knitted blanket took pride of place at the display, made from squares knitted by residents as well as many of their family and friends. “The blanket is a real symbol of togetherness,” said Fundraising Manager, Nicola Milne “and echoes the community spirit of the home.”

A raffle, tombola and delicious high tea were followed by entertainment from Hildy Harland who rounded off the event with popular jazz and swing songs that had everyone clapping along and joining in.
