St Catherine’s Nursing Home resident, Roma, revealed a hidden talent when she decided to join in the home’s art sessions recently.
Her colourful freeform shapes obviously set her grandchildren thinking when they visited her and decided that one of her pictures looked like an angel.
Her grandson took a photo of it to share with her family and the original has been framed and put on display in St Catherine’s lounge.
Activities co-ordinator, Kathleen Brennan, said “The painting sessions are always a popular pastime and we encourage everyone to just have a go – whether they are artistic or not. Colouring books for adults are really popular these days, so we make sure we have a selection of those for anyone who doesn’t feel confident enough to do a picture of their own.”
Roma certainly shouldn’t be short of confidence – she used to enjoy painting pottery when she was younger. Maybe she will try her hand at model making too, when Kathleen begins that soon.
