October has been a bumper month for birthdays in our St Catherine’s Nursing Home with no fewer than eight birthday celebrations taking place.
The end of the month saw our oldest resident, Mrs Mc, marking her 105th birthday with her daughter, Pat, and a few ‘girls from the Co-op’ – women who worked with Mrs Mc back in the 50’s at the retail store in Newcastle.
Sharing an enjoyable time together in the Family Room, everyone couldn’t help but admire the beautiful birthday cake which had been made especially for the occasion by a family friend. Incredibly, the talented baker was 90 years old and made the cake for Mrs Mc as his farewell to the baking profession.
Among the many cards received, Mrs Mc’s second birthday card and telegram from The Queen have pride of place.
Other special birthday occasions this month have been celebrated for Margaret Turnbull, who marked her 100th year; Joan McEnaney; Jean Royal; Jessie Bradley; Margaret Jackson; Mary Neilson and Vera Flisher.
Happy birthday to you all!
