The firework explosions at Parkhead – our resource centre for adults with learning disabilities in Ashington – were confined to paper this year, with artistic interpretations being created of the pops, bangs and fizzles normally associated with November 5th.
The explosive designs were a riot of colour as our regular service users used splashes of paint to illustrate what Bonfire Night meant to them.
Bursts of red, green, yellow, orange and blue lit up the blank sheets of paper everyone had been given, producing designs that were as original as each person creating them.
“We really let our hair down and had great fun creating the pictures”, said Parkhead Manager, Claire Graham. “We had all the thrill of a colourful firework display with none of the associated dangers.”
