A group of adults with learning disabilities living in our specialist home at Bailiffgate in Alnwick were happy to put some of their life skills to the test in a regular baking session.
There was no need to pop to the shops for the daily loaf when the group turned their hand to bread making, supported by the mum of one of our residents and members of our staff.
After weighing, measuring and careful mixing, the no-knead bread was ready to pop in the oven and everyone waited excitedly to see how it turned out.
The traditional Irish bread was baked to perfection, of course, and everyone enjoyed sampling the fruits of their labours, with lots of delighted comments from our residents:
“The bread was tasty,” said Hughie; “It was good” said Margery; “I enjoyed baking it and the bread was good,” added Kate.
“The results were so good, in fact, that they can’t wait to try their hand at another bread recipe soon,” said manager, Joanne Dixon.
