A group of residents from our St Catherine’s Nursing Home in Newcastle thoroughly enjoyed raising a glass to toast the festivities when staff and volunteers took them out for a drink to their local pub.
Friendly staff at the Fox and Hounds pub, just across the road from St Catherine’s, kindly set aside a reserved area in the lounge so everyone had the space they needed to feel happy and comfortable.
Our staff provided Christmas crackers, nibbles and a few festive quizzes to add to the party atmosphere.
As everyone headed back to the home after a fun-filled afternoon, the positive comments were flowing.
“It’s great to enjoy a pub atmosphere,” said St Catherine’s resident, Alan. “There’s nothing quite like it at this time of year.” Fellow resident, Rose, agreed: “It feels really Christmassy,” she said, “and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the company, too.”
