Once again, staff from the Department of Work and Pensions have been delivering some Christmas cheer to the Alan Shearer Centre.
Short Break Centre Manager, Jackie Dunn, and long-standing Activity Centre member, Alan Cuthbertson, were on hand to receive over 120 chocolate oranges donated by the department’s Benton office.
DWP’s Caroline Bullivant may have an explanation for the success of their tempting haul.
“We started our appeal for oranges back in October and managed to collect 600 for distribution to local charities.” She said. “ We introduced a rule in our office though: Eat an orange – replace it with two! I’ve bought six replacements! ”
On behalf of all our members and guests, many thanks to Caroline and her colleagues for their generosity.
