Members of our Parkhead Resource Centre for adults with learning disabilities got all “fired-up” last week, when they designed their own personalised plates and mugs.
The group were visiting the ‘Hotpotz’ pottery painting shop in Whitley Bay, which provides a selection of plates, mugs, bowls and lots of other items just waiting to be decorated. When everyone had finished having fun, creating their individual designs, everything was handed over to be fired in the shop’s kiln.
Now they have been back to collect their completed handiwork and Senior Support Worker, Hannah Chapple, says everyone is very impressed with the results. Support Worker, Christina Richards, said “It was a lovely experience – we’ve been before and we’ll certainly be back again!”
Stephen, pictured with his ‘Hulk’ plate, definitely agrees. “It was excellent!” he says.
