Eshottheugh Animal Park in Morpeth has regularly benefited from visits by adults with learning disabilities from our Parkhead Resource Centre in Ashington, so it was only fitting that they were invited along to help the park prepare for the opening of an exciting new enclosure.
The new lemur walkthrough is the only one of its kind in the North East and our service users were over-the-moon to be involved in its opening preparations.
Their sterling support for the park over the years has given them a real taste of achievement and they have tried their hand at everything from egg collecting to mucking out stables, walking donkeys and feeding the animals.
Parkhead manager, Claire Graham, said, “Our group take great pride in the work they do at the animal park and thoroughly enjoy being able to see the genuine difference they make on their visits. It’s a great opportunity for them to feel part of a busy working environment in the local community.”
