It was a feast of Americana at Parkhead Resource Centre in Ashington yesterday, as service users celebrated American Independence Day.
Having a special theme always adds to the fun, so regulars at our centre for adults with learning disabilities always look forward to their 4th July party – even if their only connection with America is a taste for hot dogs.
After a lunch of giant hot dogs with curly fries, there were plenty of donuts washed down with red, white and blue cream soda. Then everyone took part in a quiz whilst eating American sized marshmallows.
Top quizzer was Mark Eve who demonstrated his excellent knowledge of American football teams, having watched games with his Dad who is a huge fan.
