Task ‘leaves’ service users smiling

When it comes to successfully mixing business with pleasure, regular attendees at our Parkhead Resource Centre for adults with learning disabilities are hard to beat, turning even the most mundane of tasks into enjoyable fun.

As autumn sets in and the Centre’s trees begin to lose their leaves, there’s always plenty of raking and sweeping to be done to make sure everything stays neat and tidy. However, far from being chore, our cheerful service users can’t wait to turn it into an opportunity to have a great time together.

After ten minutes of throwing the leaves around, admiring their gorgeous colours and enjoying crunching them underfoot, the serious task of clearing them up finally got underway and, in no time at all, everywhere was looking spick and span.

“We love our leafy surroundings all year round,” said the Centre’s Senior Support Worker, Hannah Chapple. “The seasons always bring lots of excitement, but autumn has to be the most fun!”
