Things that go bump … all day!

Ghosts, ghouls, spooky lanterns and dancing to the Monster Mash have all been part of the annual Halloween fun enjoyed by our service users.

Members of our Alan Shearer Activity Centre have been busily preparing for Halloween for some time, perfecting their creepy crafts in the Centre’s cobweb-festooned entrance space.

The Centre itself has played host to a packed house of partygoers with adults from our Independent Supported Living service joining our Alan Shearer Centre members, friends and family for a fancy dress disco featuring all the spookiest tunes around.

“I think we’ve seen some of the most imaginative and impressive costumes ever this year,” said the Centre’s Activity Co-ordinator, Dawn Hepburn-Jobling. “Luckily, we had a photo booth set up to capture some of the amazing outfits.”

Our creative nursing home residents had fun re-visiting their lantern-carving days – although, in their day, it was more likely to have been a turnip than a pumpkin. With the help of their activity co-ordinator, it’s a dead cert that they’ve managed to turn out some of the best-crafted pumpkins around.

Then, adding to the Halloween goosebumps are the regulars at our Parkhead Resource Centre for adults with learning disabilities. The Centre in Ashington is looking its spine-tingling best for a day of ghoulish games, doughnut bobbing, trick-or-treating and disco-ing, as well as a devilishly delicious buffet.

Even though the party has just started, Halloween is already looking frighteningly good!
