Liz is now officially an outstanding social worker

Congratulations to our Fostering North East Senior Fostering Social Worker, Liz Guest, who has received a prestigious national award after being nominated by one of the team’s longstanding foster carers.

Dawn McLennan, has been supported by Liz throughout her 17 years as a foster carer and decided to submit her nomination for this year’s Fostering Excellence Awards, which are organised by Fostering Network.

Both Liz and Dawn attended the glittering awards ceremony in London where Liz was proud to collect her award for Outstanding Contribution by a Social Worker.

“It has been a privilege to receive an award for something I have enjoyed doing throughout my career,” said Liz. “I’d like to thank Dawn for her generous nomination and pay tribute to her and our many other foster carers over the years for the invaluable difference they have made to children’s lives.”

Liz has been a social worker for over 40 years, with the last 28 years spent working for our Fostering North East team.

“Liz has been my supervising social worker for 17 years,” said Dawn, “and has gone over and above her role time and time again to provide me with the support I needed as a single foster carer. Her support has been constant and professional whilst also being non-intrusive and genuine.”
