Bryan is part of our St Catherine’s family

Our nursing home doors are always open to visitors, especially those closest to our residents. We understand how important it is for families to remain part of daily life.

When Shirley moved into St Catherine’s, our home in Newcastle, her husband of nearly 70 years, Bryan, was reassured knowing he could spend as much time as he wanted by her side. Each morning, Bryan arrives at the same time, sharing meals, joining in activities, and celebrating special occasions with Shirley. Together, they’ve become part of St Catherine’s wider community.

Recognising that Shirley needed 24-hour care was not easy for Bryan and his family, but the freedom to visit anytime has helped them both settle into this new chapter of life.

“We know that choosing a care home can be one of the hardest decisions a family will ever make,” says Liz, Registered Manager. “Supporting Shirley and Bryan to continue their life together, while also providing the care Shirley needs, is at the heart of everything we do. Bryan may not live here, but he is very much part of our St Catherine’s family.”
