Believing good care starts with great people, we’re proud to celebrate the achievements of one of our young, talented people this National Career Development Month.
Beth began her career with us while she was still studying at university, taking up the post of Relief Activity Coordinator at our Alan Shearer Centre. “I absolutely loved it,” said Beth, “and my passion for supporting people living with disabilities grew from there.”
Beth’s successful application for the role of Support Worker in our Independent Supported Living Service (ISL), broadened her knowledge and experience and, while she completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Social Welfare, she was promoted to Senior Support Worker.
When the charity opened a new independent supported living service, supporting people with more complex life challenges, Beth jumped at the chance to take on the role of Deputy Manager. She has since completed a mental health qualification to enhance her understanding of the people she is supporting and is thriving in the role.
“I’m always keen to learn skills that better equip me for the challenges of the role,” said Beth, “and am incredibly grateful that the charity has supported my personal development in the area I’ve chosen to work. With the knowledge I’ve developed, I’ve also been able to help and support colleagues, building a stronger service for those we care for.”
