When Claire first joined our charity, she was looking for a change in career after working with elderly people for 15 years.
She successfully applied to become a support worker with our short break service where her love of supporting people with disabilities was born.
With two years’ experience under her belt, Claire’s dedication and aptitude for this area of work was recognised when she was appointed Senior at the Alan Shearer Specialist Residential home for adults with profound disabilities.
With continued support and encouragement from her managers, Claire continued to grow her academic qualifications and with the addition of an NVQ2 in Team Leading and Management then Diploma Level 5 in Management, Claire became Deputy Manager of the service in 2024 and Manager just over a year later.
“As soon as I started working with the charity’s disability services, I knew this was where my future lay,” said Claire. “The support I’ve had in each role has been fantastic and I can’t thank everyone enough for believing in me. I’m so proud to be Manager of our Specialist Residential Home and so happy to be heading a team that’s so dedicated to supporting our residents to live life to the full.
“If anyone is looking to develop a career in social care, I would definitely recommend coming to work for St Cuthbert’s Care, they’ve been amazing in bringing out the best in me.”
