No matter how you set out on your career, our charity offers a wealth of opportunities to grow and develop to your personal potential.
Emma, Registered Manager at our Holy Cross nursing home in Sunderland, began working in the home as a housekeeper in 2009 but felt so passionate about developing a career in social care she was soon studying while she worked, being appointed Carer in 2012.
Her enthusiasm and commitment to continue developing her skills while gaining hands-on experience in her role was backed by our charity, who supported her in gaining further qualifications.
With a degree in Dementia Care under her belt, her values-led, dedicated approach to person-centred care led to increasingly senior roles, culminating in Emma being appointed as Registered Manager in 2023.
The strength of Emma’s knowledge and experience, gained across the wide range of roles held at our home, is an absolute asset to our charity.
“It can become such a cliché, but I really do love my job,” said Emma. “I’ve been able to achieve my dream of leading the team at Holy Cross because of the belief the charity had in me and the support they provided to help me attain the skills and qualifications needed for the role. But, I’m also extremely lucky to be supported by the incredibly talented and compassionate people who make up the rest of the team.”
