Charlotte joined our charity in 2023 already well qualified with a BA (Hons) in Childhood, Youth and Family studies and with nine years’ experience as a nursery nurse teacher. However, Charlotte was looking for a new career path after realising that her real passion lay in being able to change children’s lives in more ways than through education alone.
Working for St Cuthbert’s Care was already on Charlotte’s wish list after one of her friends recommended working for the charity, so when a post for a Children’s Residential Care Officer came up, Charlotte didn’t hesitate to apply.
“I was ecstatic to be offered the job,” said Charlotte. “It was so clear, even at interview stage, that the charity was absolutely committed, passionate and dedicated to the people they care for and to their staff. I knew right there and then it was exactly the kind of organisation I wanted to work for.
“Once I began working in the children’s home, my manager was so supportive in helping me to learn the new skills I needed and it helped me to settle in really quickly.
“Within a year, I felt ready to train for a senior role and my manager was phenomenal in mentoring and supporting me to reach this new goal.
“I’m delighted to say I’ve now been appointed as Senior and I’m really enjoying the role. My career has always been important to me and I know the belief and support I’ve had so far will be there whenever I’m ready to take the next step.”
