Yesterday marked a special moment at St Catherine’s Nursing Home, as the first day of Lent and the beginning of Ramadan fell side by side.
For many of our residents, Lent is a sacred time of reflection, prayer and preparation. At the same time, our Muslim colleagues began Ramadan, a time of fasting, spiritual renewal, charity and devotion.
While Lent and Ramadan don’t always coincide, this year’s overlap reminds us of the shared values that unite different faiths: compassion, generosity and care for others.
As a Catholic nursing home, faith is an important part of who we are. We are equally proud to be part of a diverse and inclusive charity, where colleagues of all faiths and beliefs work together with kindness and respect.
This week is a wonderful reminder that, even though our traditions may differ, our shared values of dignity, respect, service and community unites us all.
