Our Alan Shearer Activity Centre is helping young member, Oscar, to make friends and be more outgoing and confident.
Oscar is autistic and is benefiting from the specialist social spaces and activities at our Centre which have not only helped him discover new experiences but have supported him in making new friends.
“Oscar is a regular visitor to our Centre,” said Senior Recreation Assistant, Heather, “and it’s been amazing to watch him grow in confidence and want to explore more things, like popping tiny seeds into pots of soil.”
In fact, Oscar is now firm friends with fellow-member, Luca and the two happily play together and often share sessions.
We couldn’t be happier to know that our Centre has played a small but crucial part in their blossoming friendship.
