At our Hub@Parkhead day centre in Ashington, members have been expanding their Makaton skills while celebrating International Day of Sign Languages with a smile.
Learning new words isn’t just about language. It’s about confidence, connection and self-expression and members enjoy weekly communication sessions to support them in expressing their thoughts, feelings and experiences.
Support Worker, Simon leads the weekly groups, helping members to develop their vocabulary and communication skills through Makaton. During the latest session, Jon was delighted to share his sign for ‘smile’ and learn how to sign ‘Hub@Parkhead’.
