Careers At St Cuthbert's Care

At St Cuthbert’s Care, careers are built on compassion, purpose and people.

Whether working in one of our care homes, children’s services, adult services or central support teams. Every member of staff plays an important part in helping people live well.

Growing with St Cuthbert's Care

Nic Gilbert joined St Cuthbert’s Care in 1996 as a finance assistant and was supported by the charity to complete his professional qualifications, becoming a Chartered Management Accountant.

He progressed to Finance Director, where he played a key role in strategic and operational decision-making, ensuring the charities financial health and driving sustainable growth.

Promoted to Chief Director in 2023, Nic brings extensive knowledge and experience to guide St Cuthbert’s Care through sector-wide challenges while maintaining its commitment to outstanding care and support.

He has been a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants for over 20 years and serves as chair of Care North East.

“I’ve learned that a career isn’t just about the roles you hold, but the dedication to learning, the support you receive, and the courage to take on new challenges. Each step, from finance assistant to leadership, is an opportunity to grow, contribute, and make a lasting impact.”
