To mark Down Syndrome Day we have been privileged to welcome Carolyn – who lives in our Independent Supported Living (ISL) service – as a brand new volunteer for our St Catherine’s Nursing Home.
Carolyn spent the morning getting to know some of our residents and visiting two of her friends who have moved into St Catherine’s from one of our other ISL services.
“I love volunteering here already,” beamed Carolyn as she chatted with resident, Moira. “I can’t wait to come back again.”
“Carolyn is quite the seasoned volunteer, having helped out regularly for many years in our Alan Shearer Activity Centre,” said Director of Care, Amanda. She’ll be an absolute asset in St Catherine’s.”
Meanwhile, our St Catherine’s nursing home residents were marking the day with some mindfulness colouring of odd socks.
Let’s get talking together to raise awareness of Down Syndrome.
