Members of staff on duty at our children’s residential home in Newcastle have become real life heroes by rescuing an injured hedgehog from their garden.
Our children’s home sits in over an acre of beautiful grounds and woodland and attracts a variety of wildlife, so when an eagle-eyed member of staff spotted the little visitor clearly struggling with an injury, it was second nature to lend a helping hand.
A careful rescue mission made sure the hedgehog was kept warm and safe until it could be taken to a nearby vet where it is being treated and cared for.
“This heart-warming tale doesn’t surprise me,” said Director of Care, Amanda Head. “Our staff have hearts of gold and regularly go the extra mile for the children and young people living in our home. The hedgehog couldn’t have chosen a more caring place to find the help it needed.”
Well done to our everyday heroes!
