Celebrations are in full swing at one of our children’s homes after two young people found jobs within weeks of each other.
Mae and Sian are both 17 and have successfully applied for jobs in the catering department at a local hospital. Although they each have different ambitions, they are both excited about their plans for the future.
“I found school hard,” said Mae, “so knew college wasn’t for me. I’d love to open my own beauty business, though, so my wages will help me to save up for equipment and courses.”
Sian is studying childcare and education at college and is looking forward to walking to her new job to boost her wellbeing.
“I can’t wait to start my job,” said Sian. “As well as building skills, it’s going to help me plan for independence. Having a regular wage will help me to budget and to save for my own flat. I’m looking forward to spending some of it, too!”
