Peter and Gail, who live in our Independent Supported Living apartments in Kenton, have taken their support for raising cancer awareness to the next level.
After supporting cancer awareness for many years with fundraising tea parties, Peter has inspired Gail to take up the cause, too, and the pair have just received certificates for attending a two-day cancer awareness course.
Run by a group of peer educators, the ‘Be Cancer Aware’ course was delivered by local people with learning disabilities to help others understand more about the signs and symptoms of cancer and encourage screening.
“We’re all so proud of Peter and Gail for attending the course,” said manager, Angela. “They are now able to share information they’ve learned with others they live with and perhaps encourage them to complete the course themselves.”
