Ian and Jill foster carers

As we head towards the end of the first week of Foster Care Fortnight, we asked some of our carers what it means to be a foster carer with us.

Jill and Ian are our newest foster carers, joining our team almost a year ago.

“Ian and I are very lucky to be part of a loving family and have very supportive friends. We felt we could offer a happy, safe and loving home to children who didn’t have that.

“We contacted Fostering North East as a friend of mine had a fulfilling and successful experience and highly recommended the agency and we were delighted to be approved as carers.

“We are learning new and different ways to be better carers and are very committed to our role. At times it hasn’t been easy, but we have had massive support from the Fostering North East team and other carers in the support groups.

“We are providing respite for some of the agency’s existing carers and are loving it and feel we are making a huge difference. If you’re thinking of becoming a foster carer, why not just enquire? The entire team at Fostering North East are lovely and friendly and put you at ease.

“We are very proud to be foster carers with Fostering North East.”
