A chat about autumn school days and the joys of playing conkers gave our St Catherine’s housekeeper, Caroline, food for thought.
“They’re a bit hard if you get hit by one,” said Caroline, “so I thought I’d put my needlework skills to good use and make some nice, soft, knitted versions so our residents could still enjoy a game.”
Pretty soon our residents were enjoying some good old-fashioned, safe, conker bashing with the knitted nuts.
“I’d never played conkers before,” laughed Jim, “so it just goes to prove, you’re never too old to learn something new!”
And it looks like you’ve become a bit of an expert, Jim.
