Residents living in our two nursing homes have been enjoying lending a helping hand with all the Christmas preparations to make sure their homes are looking their best for the festive season.
Our Holy Cross residents in Sunderland were invited to help decorate the large Christmas tree that gives such a warm welcome to visitors as they arrive in reception, and many have taken the opportunity to place their own colourful bauble on the tree.
Meanwhile, our residents at St Catherine’s in Newcastle, have been busy with their own tree decorating as well as baking their very own Christmas cake.
“We had an enthusiastic group of people involved in making the cake and everyone had to have the traditional stir for luck,” said Nicola Milne, our charity’s volunteer co-ordinator. “We’re now letting it mature for as long as our residents can resist the urge to eat it. It looks delicious!”
