BBQ fun at our home in Alnwick

Our home for adults with learning disabilities in Bailiffgate, Alnwick, was placed firmly on the map for fun when residents held a BBQ summer fair in their garden.

Family, friends and neighbours were all invited along to the sunny Saturday get-together where everyone played their part in making the whole event a success.

“If there was a job to be done, there was no shortage of people wanting to lend a hand,” said manager, Joanne Dixon. “One of our colleagues from Parkhead cut the lawn, our staff prepared and cooked the food and made bunting to decorate the garden, my husband erected the gazebo … it all looked fabulous!”

At the end of a hard morning’s preparations, everyone thoroughly enjoyed a well-deserved rest and joined guests for a cuppa, some delicious food and lots of lively conversation. Residents even organised an impromptu raffle with all proceeds going towards their garden fund.

“Everyone had such a fantastic time we may make this an annual event!” added Joanne.
